Modular system for the manufacture of precast concrete box culverts — B+S

Mould system for precast concrete box culverts or ‘Boxkompakt’ — B+S
Box culvert mould system developed by B+S Engineering is an advanced industrial solution for the manufacture of box culverts used in hydraulic engineering, underground structures and sewerage systems.
These precast elements are used in a wide variety of applications: underground road passages, river crossings, railway embankment crossings, retention basins or double pipes for maintenance operations.
“Boxkompakt” design is based on a flexible and expandable modular system, offering high productivity and a level of quality that complies with international standards for precast concrete. Process includes delayed demoulding, which is essential for achieving reliable watertightness at the joints and high dimensional accuracy.
Functioning
- Placement of the inner mould
The retracted inner mould is placed in the lower sleeve, ensuring precise positioning.
- Expansion of the core
The core is spread out, ensuring the internal dimensions of the element.
- Installation of reinforcements
Steel reinforcements and lifting anchors are integrated.
- Assembling the outer mould and locking
The spread outer mould is positioned around the lower sleeve and then closed. The upper sleeve is inserted and locked.
- Casting and compacting
The concrete is cast and compacted by internal vibrators, or by using self-compacting concrete, depending on the option chosen.
- Delayed demoulding
After approximately 6 hours of curing, the upper sleeve lock is removed.
- Extraction
The inner mould is retracted and then removed, the outer mould is opened, and production can restart.
This cycle ensures a continuous process with excellent control of geometry, concrete surfaces and tolerances.

- Easy-to-handle mould system: the mould parts are designed for ergonomic use and quick changes.
- Simple system extension: the modular concept allows profiles, sleeves or dimensional variations to be added without complete reconstruction.
- Flexibility for special profiles: production of normal or special profiles (slopes, widenings, wall variations).
- High surface quality and precision: meets the most stringent standards in terms of finish, homogeneity and parallelism.
- Visual appeal of products: elements with a very homogeneous concrete appearance.
- Controlled return on investment: the modular system limits additional investments.
- Modern wetcast design
